- I rendered a scene involving a rippling, multi-poligonal sheet filling
- the camera view. Behind the sheet was an object. The sheet was
- transparent, surfaced as if it was water with refraction set arbitrarily
- at 1.6. I turned on all raytracing options and rendered a MedRes full
- frame with Low AA (8). The results (based on memory) are as follows:
-
- Raptor 3 (300 MHZ 21164) - 53 seconds
-
- Carrera (250 MHZ 21164) - 1:50
-
- Alpine (275 MHZ 21064) - 3:30
-
-
- I was interested in comparing it to our machine:
-
- Raptor 1 (2 R4400 MIPS) - 4:12 (8:24 per processor)
-
- I only wish I'd had the foresight to bring a couple other scene files to
- benchmark.
-
- Did anyone render a test using a clip map? That's about the only thing we
- still have problems with on our MIPS machine. For some reason, it crashes
- or takes exhorbitant amounts of time to render them. Oh well. Next
- time...
